What is a total solar eclipse? On Monday, April 8, 2024 Hancock County will experience a total solar eclipse. A solar eclipse occurs when the moon cast its shadow on the Earth as it passes between the Earth and the Sun. A total solar eclipse occurs when the moon appears to totally obscure the Sun. The partial eclipse will begin at 1:55pm and reach it's maximum peak of total darkness at 3:10pm.
The last total solar eclipse visible in Ohio was in 1806 and the next one will occur in 2099. We look forward to experiencing this natural phenomenon as a community and welcoming visitors to join us in the place we call home. |
