What is a total solar eclipse?
On Monday, April 8, 2024 Hancock County experienced a total solar eclipse. A solar eclipse occurs when the moon cast its shadow on the Earth as it passes between the Earth and the Sun. A total solar eclipse occurs when the moon appears to totally obscure the Sun. The partial eclipse will began at 1:55pm and reached it's maximum peak of total darkness at 3:10pm.
